Tyler Katz is currently in his first year in the Nova Southeastern Athletics Department, having joined the Shark Family in March 2026 as the Manager of Athletic Sports Information.
A native to Davie, Katz comes to NSU after attending high school at NSU University School ('19) where he worked for the university as the public address announcer for NSU Softball for his junior and senior years.
Katz joins NSU after serving at Carson-Newman University as a Graduate Assistant of Athletic Communications. While at Carson-Newman, Katz was responsible for live statistics, press releases, recap stories, game notes, nomination for athletic/academic awards, coordinating media, and was the primary contact for Volleyball, Men's & Women's Tennis, and Track & Field. In addition to Sports Information roles at C-N, Katz was also an integral member of the Eagle Sports Network where he served in broadcast roles for basketball, baseball, soccer, and football.
Katz previously served as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Salem Red Sox (now RidgeYaks) of the Carolina League, Waterloo Bucks of the Northwoods League, and Pierre Trappers of the Expedition League.
Katz received his degree from Virginia Tech ('23), where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a major in Sports Media and Analytics. While at Virginia Tech he served as the Sports Director of 3304 Sports, the online multimedia home for student sports media which included managing a staff of 150 students in broadcasting, writing, podcasting, and production studio shows.
